ReCellular recently donated cell phones to Indiba-Africa Development Alliance for the UmNyango Project in South Africa. The project is helping rural women use mobile phones to report violations of their human and constitutional rights, including incidences of violence against women and children, as well as violations of women's right to own and control land.

The Government of Rwanda is working closely with to bring mobile phones to rural healthcare workers. Rural healthcare workers face the daily obstacles of short life expectancy and high infant mortality rates due to malnutrition and the prevalence of malaria and AIDS. Putting a cell phone in the hands of medical workers who bring hope and healing to rural Rwanda is a gift of empowerment and lifesaving opportunity. Following the horrific genocide and civil war in 1994 the county still suffers from fragile social capital and the massive destruction of social and physical infrastructure. The Government of Rwanda has made it a top priority to distribute mobile phones to healthcare workers to improve the health of the Rwandan people and infrastructure of the county. |
